About Psoriasis
|
|
|
Psoriasis is a common, persistent or recurrent inflammatory skin
disorder in adults, whose cause is unknown. It seems that there
is a strong genetic element, although this is not evident in every
case. The large majority of sufferers go through life with a few
psoriatic plaques or have just one attack with more generalized
lesions. For these comparatively lucky people the disease is no
bar to work of any type. Unfortunately there are several groups
of psoriatic whose skin problem interferes with their work.
Psoriasis
is a persistent and recurrent inflammatory skin disease for which
there is currently no long-term cure. However, there are ways of
inducing remissions or at least improving virtually all patients
with the disorder. Hare we shall be discussing treatments suitable
for patients with mild or moderate psoriasis, as well as some of
the effects of treatments given for patients with the more severe
forms of the disease, which are commenced by specialist departments
and may be continued as out-patient therapy in the community
